Adults

We consider all Christian education – traditional Sunday school classes, small group study, and larger group study - to be a journey in Discipleship.

The traditional Sunday School hour (10am-10: 45 am) is not just about learning. It is participating in a smaller community in the church, establishing relationships with one another, and strengthening relationships with God. It is not as much a “school” as it is friendship and faith development.

Faith development, life concerns, and current topics relevant to young adults are shared in a class designed for young adults or the “young at heart”.

The Forum Class focuses on the lectionary Bible readings for the week to determine the common links between the Old Testament, Psalms, Gospel, and New Testament readings. This class invites conversation, questions, and reflections on how the scriptures enhance our daily lives.

Selected book study, faith-based/life learning writings, theological and devotional study describe the variety of study in the M & M Class. Conversation is encouraged to share the influence and the impact of excerpts read together as a group.

Several times each year larger group studies, facilitated by pastoral leadership, are offered during the Sunday School hour for four to six weeks. These larger class gatherings focus on specific topics such as Lent, History of The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), generosity, and spiritual gifts.

Periodically, small Discipleship groups meet on a weekday to learn and share topics such as prayer practices and dealing with grief.
